Discovering Bonchon First Hill: A Culinary Beacon in New York City
Nestled in the vibrant heart of New York City, specifically at 367 1st Ave, New York, NY 10010, United States, Bonchon First Hill stands as a compelling destination for enthusiasts of authentic Korean fried chicken and traditional flavors. This location serves as more than just a dining spot; it is a cultural intersection where meticulous preparation meets irresistible taste, drawing in locals and visitors alike seeking a genuine taste of Korean culinary excellence. The atmosphere is often described as energetic yet welcoming, perfectly complementing the bold flavors that define the Bonchon experience. For those unfamiliar with the brand, Bonchon has cultivated a global reputation built on a singular dedication to quality and a proprietary double-frying technique that sets its signature chicken apart from all others.
The First Hill branch upholds this rigorous standard, ensuring that every order delivered to the table reflects the commitment to crispiness, juiciness, and the perfect balance of savory, spicy, and sweet notes. Whether you are a long-time devotee of Korean cuisine or someone embarking on their first culinary adventure into this rich tradition, Bonchon First Hill offers an accessible and deeply satisfying entry point. The menu, while centered around its famous chicken, also features a thoughtful selection of complementary Korean staples designed to round out a complete and memorable meal. It is this dedication to both signature items and supporting dishes that solidifies its standing in the competitive New York dining landscape.
What truly distinguishes Bonchon First Hill in the bustling culinary scene of Manhattan is its unwavering focus on the core elements that have propelled the brand to international recognition. It’s about the process, the ingredients, and the final presentation. The location itself benefits from its accessibility, making it an ideal stop for a quick lunch, a casual dinner with friends, or a satisfying takeout experience after a long day exploring the city.
Key Highlights of the Bonchon First Hill Experience
When considering a visit to this specific location, several aspects consistently draw praise and define the unique appeal of Bonchon First Hill:
The Signature Double-Frying Technique: This is the cornerstone of the Bonchon promise. Unlike conventional frying methods, the double-fry process renders the chicken incredibly thin-skinned and exceptionally crispy, locking in the moisture. This results in a texture that remains crisp even when coated in their signature sauces, a feat few competitors can replicate consistently.
Authentic Flavor Profiles: The sauces—ranging from the mild, savory Soy Garlic to the fiery Spicy—are developed using traditional Korean ingredients and methods. These coatings are applied expertly, ensuring full coverage without making the chicken soggy, offering a complex flavor journey that is distinctly Korean.
A Welcoming Urban Setting: Situated conveniently on 1st Avenue, the restaurant provides a comfortable and modern environment conducive to enjoying flavorful food. It successfully balances the fast-casual efficiency required in a dense urban area with the warmth expected of a neighborhood favorite.
Beyond the Chicken Offerings: While the chicken is the star, the menu thoughtfully includes other essential Korean dishes. Patrons often appreciate the opportunity to pair their main course with sides such as flavorful rice dishes or fresh, crisp vegetable accompaniments, creating a well-rounded and satisfying dining experience that caters to diverse preferences.
These highlights collectively contribute to the restaurant’s reputation as a reliable source for high-quality Korean fried chicken in the area. The consistency across these elements is what encourages repeat patronage and positive word-of-mouth recommendations throughout the community.
A Commitment to Quality and Community
Bonchon First Hill is more than just a franchise location; it is an active participant in the local culinary ecosystem of New York. The management and staff are dedicated to upholding the high standards set by the Bonchon brand while providing attentive, friendly service tailored to the pace of city life. They understand that in a city saturated with dining options, differentiation comes through unwavering quality and genuine hospitality.
For those seeking an authentic taste of Korean fried chicken—a dish that has transcended its origins to become a global phenomenon—Bonchon First Hill at 367 1st Ave offers an unparalleled opportunity. It represents a perfect synthesis of time-honored cooking techniques and modern dining expectations. Whether you are craving that signature crunch or looking to explore the depth of Korean flavors in a relaxed setting, this establishment promises a culinary experience that is both deeply satisfying and distinctly memorable. We invite you to discover why Bonchon’s approach to fried chicken has earned international acclaim, right here in the heart of New York.

Had an amazing experience at Bonchon thanks to Quan! He was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Quan went above and beyond with his service — always checking in with a warm smile and making us feel genuinely welcomed. It’s rare to come across someone so kind and thoughtful. Big shoutout to Quan for making our visit extra special.

Fantastic Korean Chicken Experience!
I had the pleasure of dining at BonChon 1st Ave, and it was truly an outstanding experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff was incredibly attentive and helpful, guiding me through the menu with great recommendations.
The food was absolutely phenomenal. I ordered a take on sweet (soy garlic) and (spicy) chicken tenders, which were crispy on the outside and perfectly balanced in flavors. The variety of side dishes that accompanied the meal added a delightful range of textures and flavors, making every bite exciting. I ordered the fries 🍟 with a side of coleslaw. I also appreciated the generous portion sizes, ensuring that you leave feeling full and satisfied.
Overall, BonChon offers an authentic taste of Korea with exceptional service. Whether you're new to Korean cuisine or a longtime fan, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Had an amazing experience today, Vera’s customer service was outstanding and she kept me updated about my order as soon as possible with any delay. She was very apologetic about the situation with my order (no bacon). She gave me a 10% discount on my order. Vera delivered my order to my table and gave me a complimentary fried donut. The item I ordered was good, a bit oily but it’s acceptable.

Bonchon, New York - 1st Avenue, is now our favorite place in Manhattan for lunch!
The location is easily accessible and easy to find.
The place is always very clean and organized, and the decor is world class!
The staff is very, very friendly and helpful. I have been there about six times so far over the past month and their warm welcome has consistently made us feel like family coming home!
The food! The food! The food! The food is amazing! Tastes good every day! Whoever the chef or chefs are, they need to be awarded gold medals!
My favorite is the Korean chicken wings! I can never have enough!
The prices are also very reasonable!
Looking forward to my next visit.
Keep up the great work guys!

I love the Japchae lunch today. Vera cooked with all her love that’s why it was very tasty and would come back for it every time I would crave for a noodle dish. Thank you Vera for your amazing service and your kindness. I observed how you greeted each customer with respect, kindness and appreciation. Keep up the great work!

Went with the 30 piece. It’s Korean BBQ Chicken. Double fried. Fed the whole pool team at Clara’s Gramercy bar. They didn’t have food and allowed us to bring outside food. Lots of skin on those wings. Korean BBq sauce was finger licken good. Fries were delicious. Not too thin but on the thicker side. The 5.99 bag was actually quite large.

I went in here. There were four people in line. The one in front was NYPD. There was no counter person. All in kitchen. After several minutes the officer walked. Complaining out loud about the service. Eventually everyone else in front of me walked out. I walked to the kitchen window to see if we could get counter help and they tossed me out of the store. This is literally one of the worst customer service experiences of my 65 year long lifetime. Too bad you can’t give 0 stars.

Customer service was excellent. The food and the atmosphere didn’t do it for me. The chicken was mediocre to stay the least. The donuts were extremely greasy; I just couldn’t enjoy it. The drumsticks were huge. I didn’t even bother to eat them. The fries were extra crispy as I asked for them to be. Last, the fountain drink was off. It had a weird taste, and the restaurant had a weird smell too.

I placed my order online and showed up at the time it told me to. When I arrived it took an extra 20 minutes. When I got my food it was missing an item that I had to go back and get. When I finally got to eat it, I realized I received the chicken buns but I ordered the bulgogi. Then when eating the fried chicken, all of the larger pieces were UNDERCOOKED! Everything was wrong.
How can I get a refund? The “contact us” on the website keeps failing.
